A holiday in Limassol introduces you to the sunny south coast of Cyprus. Stroll along the modern and old port and dream away at the view of the many boats moored here. Need to cool down? Take a dip in the clear waters of the Mediterranean at Akrotiri Bay.
After Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, Limassol holds the reins of the second largest city. Its castle is the main attraction, as well as the medieval museum, also it’s the public garden, a small zoo and an archaeological museum. It’s music scene is relatively busy, from bouzouki taverns to jazz places, along with its coastal coffee houses, that make this city very interesting. The city has no fewer than two harbors: an old harbor with traditional restaurants on the water, but also a modern harbor that is important for trade and which is also the starting point for boat trips to the Greek island of Rhodes. Limassol is therefore also called the 'gateway to the Middle East'.
The coastal region to the east is scenic. Between Limassol and Amathus to the east, many fine hotels are spread in the cast line. Nearby are the 13th-century Kolossi, the beach at Dhassoudi, the Ayios Georgios Convent and the Greco-Roman archaeological site of Curium, as well as its ancient theatre, where plays and concerts are performed every summer. Regional vineyards and wineries abound! Use Limassol as a base and visit Troodos mountain villages.
